Position Description

The Safety Compliance Manager will play a vital role in ensuring that our trades employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will have a strong background in trades skills and safety compliance, with the ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate safe work practices. This role requires a hands-on approach to safety training, with a focus on practical skills and real-world scenarios relevant to the trades environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of safety training programs and materials tailored to the specific needs of trades employees, including but not limited to electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters, and heavy equipment operators.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify specific safety hazards and risks associated with trades work and develop training materials and exercises to address these risks.
  • Develop and implement strategies for comprehensive hands-on safety training programs that develop and assess trade employees’ skills.
  • Assist in the development of safety policies, procedures, and job aids specifically tailored to trades roles, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions, both in-person and virtually, ensuring that content is effectively communicated and understood by participants.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, and feedback mechanisms, making adjustments as needed to improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maintain accurate records of training activities, including attendance, completion rates, and participant feedback.
  • Stay informed about changes in safety regulations, technology, and industry trends to ensure training programs remain current and relevant.
  • Train and support internal trainers or safety champions to assist with the delivery of safety training programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as HR, operations, and compliance, to integrate safety training into onboarding processes and ongoing professional development initiatives.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Safety Trainer (CST) designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety training, instructional design, or a related field, preferably in construction.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training delivery techniques.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet all driver qualifications.
